Luxury hotel brand JW Marriott, Auckland has unveiled new design concepts for guest rooms and it’s full transformation journey.

Marriott International’s iconic luxury brand JW Marriott has unveiled it’s new design concepts for guest rooms as it embarks on a three stage complete transformation journey for it’s flagship hotel, JW Marriott, Auckland.

JW Marriott occupies a prime spot in Auckland CBD at what was Stamford Plaza on Albert Street. The hotel has 286 rooms and was sold last year for $170M making it New Zealand’s largest commercial real estate sale. Marriott International has the largest portfolio of luxury hotels worldwide and manages the hotel under a licensing agreement.

With a $25M budget spread over three phases, the first phase of completing 40 rooms by the end of 2023 has kicked off with the design reveal of the first guest room. The new designs revolve around the idea of ‘beautiful collisions’ drawing inspiration from New Zealand nature with a balance of rough and smooth textures. With an area of 38sqmts, rooms at JW Marriott are some of the most spacious in town and renovating them would cost $100,000 per key.

“We’re making this hotel a flagship hotel in this part of the world”, said Girish Talreja, General Manager at JW Marriott Auckland. “What you can see, touch and feel in the guestrooms, everything is changing to make it way welcoming, intuitive, and a relaxing environment for our customers to experience for times to come”, added Girish.
