Qantas launches Classic Plus offering more reward seats

  • June 26, 2024

New Zealanders now have access to more reward seats with the launch of Classic Plus, a new way for members to use their Qantas Points to book flights.

Qantas has launched Classic Plus, one of the biggest ever expansions of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program and will make it easier for Kiwis travel to places like London, Tokyo, New York and Singapore with Qantas using points, even during peak periods. Classic Plus reward seats can be booked from today on Qantas international flights departing New Zealand for travel from 1 July. It follows the launch of Classic Plus for Australian based Qantas Frequent Flyers back in April.

Once Classic Plus is rolled out across the rest of the Qantas international and Australian domestic network, members will have access to over 20 million reward seats across the rolling 12-month booking period. While usually requiring more points than the existing Classic reward seats, Classic Plus represents some of the best value across the frequent flyer program with much wider availability. Classic Plus reward seats are
also eligible for upgrades.

The points required to book Classic Plus reward seats vary like normal airfares, which means they’ll be lower during off-peak periods or when booking early, and higher during peak periods. During sales and promotions, Classic Plus reward seats may drop below a Classic reward seat on the same route. New Zealand is currently home to almost one million Qantas Frequent Flyers, who can earn and use their points on international flights across Qantas, Jetstar and 45 partner airlines. Kiwis can also earn points on every Jetstar New Zealand domestic flight. Qantas Frequent Flyer also offers New Zealanders a number of ways to earn points and boost their points balance beyond flying. Partners include BNZ Rewards, Accor Hotels, Avis and Budget Car Rental, Airbnb, as well as thousands of hotels worldwide.
