Lufthansa unveils elevated Premium Check-in Area at Frankfurt Airport
- December 5, 2025
Lufthansa Group has reopened its extensively modernised Premium Check-in Area in Terminal 1, Hall A, at Frankfurt Airport, creating a more seamless ground experience for its top-tier guests departing via the German hub.
The refreshed space is now available to Lufthansa First Class passengers, HON Circle members, Senators and Star Alliance Gold status customers. Francesco Sciortino, Hub Manager Frankfurt & Accountable Manager Lufthansa Airlines, said the redesign was firmly centred on customer expectations. “Our customers are at the heart of everything we do. With the new Premium Check-in Area, we have created a space for our guests that combines comfort, efficiency, and personalised service at the highest level. The reopening marks a milestone in the collaboration between Lufthansa and Fraport. Together, we are creating infrastructure that meets the highest standards and makes the stay at Frankfurt Airport even more pleasant for our guests.”

The project is also being positioned as a showcase of airport–airline cooperation. Stephanie Pudwitz, Head of Central Infrastructure Management at Fraport AG, noted: “The new Lufthansa product shows how cooperation based on partnership can produce innovative solutions. In creating the new premium check-in area, we took the wishes of Lufthansa Group fully into account. Together, we are setting standards for comfort and service for the benefit of our guests at Frankfurt Airport.”

Among the most notable additions is a generously sized section with changing rooms, designed for business and premium travellers who want to change outfits or repack bags quickly before departure – a feature Lufthansa says responds directly to frequent customer feedback. The area also features high tables with integrated charging points, comfortable seating for informal meetings, and direct access from Parking Lot P31, offering discreet kerbside-to-counter convenience.

Lufthansa staff are positioned at new service bars to handle individual requests, while dedicated agents support the use of exclusive baggage machines to streamline the check-in and bag-drop process. The carrier says the updated zone blends contemporary design with personalised service touches, including a separate waiting area and practical extras aimed at making the airport experience both more efficient and more flexible for premium guests.
Complementing the new Premium Check-in Area, status customers and Business Class passengers can again access the refurbished Lufthansa Business Lounge at Gate A13. Following a brief renovation, the lounge has rejoined the Frankfurt lounge line-up, offering spaces for relaxation, focused work and pre-flight preparation in line with Lufthansa’s wider premium upgrade across the hub.
