Lounge Review – Qatar Airways Silver Lounge Hamad International Airport
- September 4, 2025
Harmeet Sehgal checks out the Qatar Airways’ Silver Lounge at Hamad International Airport. It’s designed as a mid-tier haven for frequent flyers and business travellers. Blending functionality with comfort and includes showers, workspaces, and a reliable buffet offering a refreshing break between long-haul connections.
Location and Access
The Silver Lounge South sits in Concourse B, near Gate B1, at Hamad International Airport (DOH). Access is granted to Privilege Club Silver, Gold, and Platinum member. Oneworld Sapphire and Emerald status holders. Qatar Airways Business Class passengers (excluding Business Lite). Economy passengers and Oneworld Ruby members can also purchase access. The lounge is clearly signposted and just a short walk from security, making it a practical choice for travellers transiting or departing Doha.

Space and Design
The lounge embraces a clean, contemporary design, with abundant natural light streaming in through floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the apron. The layout is functional, split into different seating zones to cater for a range of passenger needs. Couches and armchairs are arranged in clusters, good for casual relaxation.

Quiet zones with privacy pods and semi-enclosed seating for travellers wanting to nap or work without distraction.
There is a family-friendly area designed to accommodate children, keeping them comfortable without disturbing business travellers.

Power outlets are well-distributed, a welcome feature for those who need to stay charged between long flights.
Dining and Beverages
The buffet dining is generous by mid-tier lounge standards. Guests can expect a mix of hot and cold dishes as well as salads, fresh fruit and light snacks.

Freshly baked pastries in the morning with barista-style coffee, speciality teas and a good range of soft drinks.

Alcohol is served discreetly on request at the bar. The selection isn’t as extensive but sufficient for most short stays.

Amenities
For the business traveller, the Silver Lounge is more than a waiting area, it’s designed to be functional and restorative. Shower facilities are available with gender-segregated cubicles allow travellers to refresh between flights.

Queues may form at peak times, but availability is usually reasonable. There is a business centre and meeting rooms which are ideal for catching up on work or hosting short discussions. High-speed Wi-Fi that is consistently reliable, enabling seamless email or video calls. Storage and cloakroom facilities are also available.
Atmosphere and Comfort
The lounge is comfortable for a 2–3 hour stay. I arrived from Auckland into Hamad International Airport late-night for an early morning onward connection. At this time, the lounge was uncrowded. For its tier, the Silver Lounge provides a calming, practical retreat from the bustle of Hamad International Airport.

The Silver Lounge isn’t designed to rival the Al Mourjan Business Lounge or Al Safwa First Class Lounge. Instead, it offers a reliable, mid-tier solution for frequent flyers, status holders, and business travellers flying Economy or lower-fare Business Class. With its mix of workspaces, showers, decent dining, and daylight-filled design, it’s a strong option for those with layovers or early departures. While not luxurious, it ticks the boxes for convenience, comfort, and functionality, the essentials for a productive business trip.
