First look: JO&JOE lands in Auckland

  • November 11, 2025

JO&JOE has officially opened on Fort Street today, marking the lifestyle brand’s New Zealand debut and its first outpost in Asia Pacific in a prime corner of Auckland’s CBD. The address (16–20 Fort Street) puts guests a short walk from the waterfront, ferries and Britomart’s rail links, a handy triangle for business and bleisure alike.

Positioned between hostel, hotel and neighbourhood hang-out, JO&JOE brings its ‘open house’ concept to the city with bold, social interiors and multiple places to linger: the Happy House common area, a 40-seat lobby bar with self check-in, a snack-and-chill corner, and a 50-seat rooftop bar and restaurant with city views. Weekly DJ sets and live music are set to keep the roof terrace buzzing, drawing both travellers and locals. As general manager Kristen Pirie puts it: “Everyone is welcome at JO&JOE. We’ve created an inclusive place that combines the comfort of a hotel with the vibrancy and social atmosphere of a hostel, where both travellers and locals can enjoy the vibe and swap travel tales over a drink in our buzzing rooftop bar.”

The accommodation mix spans 75 keys and 293 beds, from female-only and male-only dorms (in four, six and eight-bed formats) to private doubles with ensuites, a flexible model that suits solo travellers, small teams on tight per diems, or friends tacking a weekend onto a work trip. For those who work on the road, the ground-floor spaces double as informal meeting nooks between Britomart appointments and ferry runs to the North Shore.

The Auckland property is part of Accor’s lifestyle portfolio under Ennismore. JO&JOE properties already operate in Europe and Brazil and adds welcome variety at the affordable end of the city’s hotel scene. Ownership sits with New Zealand’s CP Group, one of the country’s largest private hotel investors and developers.
