New Zealand first country to exclusively carry Emirates’ four-class A380
Emirates Premium Economy on-board the Airbus A380 is seeing soaring demand since its deployment on the Auckland – Dubai route (EK448) and the recently re-established Christchurch service (EK412).
New Zealand is the first country to feature the all four classes which is an ambitious retrofit programme of the airline representing a multi-billion dollar investment.
Premium Economy on the Auckland – Dubai route is particularly popular said country manager at Emirates, Chris Lethbridge.
“We’re very excited, it’s been a long time in the making and we’re very privileged to have it not only on our Auckland service daily but also from our Christchurch service daily. For people who want to buy the Premium Economy product, more space is the big thing, the configuration is a 2-4-2 configuration, the meal offering is on bone-china with glassware and tableware, a wider seat, 19.5 inch seat, a 15.3 inch television, calf support, leg support, a 40 inch pitch, 8 inch recline. And the other thing that people love is that there are three dedicated lavatories for the Premium Economy cabin,” added Chris.
Generous offerings in Premium Economy
The Premium Economy cabin offers a signature experience unmatched in the industry, with a dedicated check-in area at Dubai International Airport, a generous checked baggage allowance of up to 35kg and priority boarding ahead of Economy passengers.
The Premium Economy dining experience includes a welcome drink served in fine glassware, and a selection of meals made with seasonal ingredients, served on Royal Doulton china tableware with stainless-steel cutlery. Premium Economy customers are also offered an extended beverage list that includes vintage wines from Emirates’ Business Class list, including a sparkling Chardon and Chandon Vintage Brut 2016. Premium Economy customers are provided with complimentary amenity kits made with sustainable and recycled materials and soft, alongside sustainably made blankets and a generously sized pillow, both designed uniquely for Premium Economy.
The fully refreshed A380 features Emirates’ latest products and interiors across all cabins, including 56 Premium Economy class seats on the main deck, and new colour palettes evident in the carpeting and wall panels. On the upper deck, First and Business Class seats sport Emirates’ latest cream-coloured leather upholstery and lighter-toned wood finishing, similar to the airline’s ‘game changer’ product.
Emirates’ signature ghaf tree motif also features prominently throughout the interiors, including hand-stencilled panels in the First Class Shower Spa.
