Cathay Pacific reopens ‘The Bridge’ A sophisticated benchmark for Executive Travel

  • May 13, 2025

Cathay Pacific has officially reopened The Bridge, its elegant and reimagined lounge located near Gate 35 at Terminal 1 of Hong Kong International Airport.

Positioned at a prime junction in Cathay Pacific’s home hub, The Bridge has been completely redesigned to suit the working rhythms, expectations, and lifestyle of high-flying professionals. Every element from its ambient lighting and curated scent profile to the soft textiles and acoustic zoning has been calibrated to provide a calming counterbalance to the intensity of business travel.

The Bridge introduces Cathay’s bespoke Solo Chairs, designed to give business travellers semi-private space to check emails, conduct calls, or simply unwind with noise isolation and device charging ports within reach. Materials such as cherry wood, travertine stone, and black granite complement art installations from the airline’s award-winning Gallery in the Skies collection elevating the aesthetic to that of a high-end members’ club.

Also in a first for Cathay Pacific, The Bridge will soon introduce biometric lounge entry, enabling executives to fast-track their access with face recognition reducing touchpoints and ensuring seamless transitions through the airport.

The lounge’s structure is cleverly divided into two wings, each offering distinctive culinary and spatial experiences. Both are equally suited for a focused working session or a moment of indulgent repose.

The Left Wing: A Celebration of Asian Flavours and Quiet Luxury

The iconic Noodle Bar makes a celebrated return, with signature dishes like dan dan noodles, handmade wontons, and seasonal dim sum. The new Nook concept brings regional Chinese cuisine to the fore with a menu of light bites including crispy scallion pancakes, made-to-order bao, rice rolls, and seasonal small plates. A purpose-designed dim sum cart is both functional and aesthetic and brings traditional service into the modern lounge environment.

Low-light zones with smart spacing ensure diners can savour meals in privacy — ideal for unwinding after back-to-back meetings or preparing for a long-haul red-eye.

The Right Wing: International Comfort Meets Executive Privacy

A dedicated First enclave offers a more exclusive atmosphere, allowing top-tier frequent flyers and VIPs to engage in discreet meetings or unwind undisturbed. The lounge’s international menu is rooted in warmth and comfort: think beef bourguignon, Provencal vegetable bakes, and freshly baked pastries served straight from front-of-house ovens for freshness and flair.

Overlooking the tarmac, The Bar is a highlight offering Champagne, expertly crafted cocktails, and single-origin barista coffee served by Cathay’s warm and intuitive hospitality team.

For New Zealand-based executives connecting through Hong Kong particularly those flying Cathay Pacific’s Business or First class from Auckland, The Bridge represents a new gold standard in airport hospitality. Whether you’re closing deals en-route to Europe or heading home from Asia-Pacific boardroom meetings, the lounge combines business functionality with deeply considered comfort.
